  • SOCIB data-entries

    SOCIB data-entries corresponds to the files that store the data reported by SOCIB platforms & instruments. These are netCDF files, the format used by the Metocean Community (read here more about such format).
    The amount of files distributed by SOCIB can be very large and therefore it is posible to filter-out the defaulting list of files by several criterias (i.e instrument type involved, platform type involved etc).


    SOCIB API data-entries endpoint allows a quick access to the files containing the metocean observations.

    SOCIB data-sources

    SOCIB data-sources are streams of metocean data produced by means of deploying somewhere (ocean or land) a given platform with one or more instruments attached to it.
    During the time period the involved instruments are active, the data measured by such combos is said to belong to the same dataset (netcdf collection) and it is therefore distributed together.
    Data streams are said to be of type deployment if it involves a single instrument anchored to a platform (unique insturment&platform enssemble) whereas it is said to be of type platform if the data stream involves more than one of the instruments anchored to the platform.


    SOCIB API data-source endpoint allows a quick access to metocean data streams (deployment or platform based).

    SOCIB data-products

    SOCIB data-products wrapp data-sources sharing the same context into one single entity. This context can represent campaings (i.e CANALES), projects (i.e ABACUS), operations (maintenance) etc. A certain SOCIB data-product can be composed then by a single data-source (i.e a data-source deployed lonely) or serveral (i.e data-sources deployed during the same campaing).


    SOCIB data-products constitute the second level of abstraction build over the data-sources, being a short-cut to access a set of metocean data streams.
